Calculations for Losing Players’ Scores: The score of the losing players is nothing but the penalty they receive for every unarranged card. If a player forms a pure sequence, then the points of the unarranged cards are added for the penalty. However, if you fail to form a pure sequence, all card points get added to the penalty.
Here is an example of how the penalty will be calculated for the losing Players -
If a player has a 7 of Spades and a 9 of the Hearts and the Ace of the Clubs, which are not part of any set or sequence, they will get a penalty of (7+ 9+ 10) points or 26 points.
- First Drop: If you leave the game without picking any card, it is called the First drop, and you get a penalty of 20 points.
- Middle Drop: If you decide to drop out of the game after picking at least one card, then it is called a middle drop. You receive a penalty of 40 points for a middle drop in Points Rummy games.
- Consecutive Drop: When a player misses three consecutive turns, they automatically get removed from the table, and their “Drop” is considered as the Middle Drop, and they receive a penalty of 40 points.
What is Points Rummy?
Points Rummy is a variation of Indian Rummy played with a standard deck of 13 cards with a pre-decided rupee value. It is one of the fastest variants, and with a valid declaration, the winner receives zero points. The opponent gets a penalty based on the number of ungrouped cards available.

What is the Maximum Limit of Points a Player Can Get?
A player participating in a Point Rummy game can score a maximum of 80 points. Therefore, if the sum of the unarranged cards of any player exceeds 80 rummy points, their score is limited to 80 points only.
