However, you can exercise this option only when all the players agree to split the prize money.
With the split option in Pool Rummy, the players can divide the prize money, subject to drop counts. For example, in 101 Pool, if every player's total score after the final round is greater than or equal to 61, the participants can split the winning amount. In the case of 201 Pool, players can avail split option when the total score is greater than or equal to 151.
Points Calculation in Pool Rummy
In Points Pool Rummy, the champion at the end of the game scores zero points after making a valid declaration. The remaining players get points based on the ungrouped cards they have. The value of each card is listed below:
Face cards and Aces: 10 points each.
Numbered cards: (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) - Points equal their face values.
Jokers (both printed/wild): It carries 0 points.
The elimination of a player occurs after calculating the score of all the players at the end of the round. The score calculation follows the given norms:
- A player with two sequences, one pure and another impure, gets points after adding the value of the ungrouped cards.
- Declaration from a player without any valid sequence leads to all cards' point addition in their hand to determine their points.
- An invalid declaration by a player incurs a penalty of 80 points.
- A player who misses three turns one after the other gets dropped from the ongoing game and gets game 40 points as a penalty in 101 Pool and 50 points as a penalty in 201 Pool.
The Drop Button
Sometimes, the cards you get after a random dealt are not all in your favor, and it is in your best interest not to continue with the round. As a seasoned player, you can understand that your final penalty points might get you eliminated from the game, so you can stay in the game by dropping out of the round with fewer penalty points. It is called the Drop option, and in Pool Rummy, you have two-way outs in the form of the Drop option.
The first drop happens when one or more players leave the round before drawing any card. In 61 Points Rummy, you get 15 penalty points. In 101 Points Rummy, you get 20 penalty points. In 201 Points Rummy, you get 25 penalty points if you opt for First Drop. If you drop after picking a card, it is called a Middle Drop, and you receive 30, 40, and 50 penalty points for 61, 101, and 201 Points Rummy, respectively. Consecutively Missing three turns is also considered a Middle Drop with similar penalty points.
